After our wedding, we live at my parents house.  Me and my husband's dream is to have our own house.  I love a house that is nice and clean, simple and neat, not too big and not too small.  I love to put a veranda for us to chill-out or talk with friends and family.  A playground and swimming pool also are nice ideas for the kids to enjoy during weekends and holidays.  It is also nice to have basement in case of emergency.  I want our master bedroom to have our own bathroom inside with bath tub and jacuzzi, then with a big sliding door for us too see the view of the garden that have lots of plants and fountains.  To have a nice look of the house, we must have beautiful design of curtains or drapes. father's condition

My dad was confined at the hospital last December 6.  At first, it only started with a dizziness.  Then my mom said let's go to the hospital for check-up.  When they arrived at the hospital, my dad had high blood pressure.  The blood pressure did not go down so he was confined so that there will be series of tests.  The next day, my mom called and said that he had mild stroke and he has problem swallowing.  He had also pneumonia, so he needs to be transferred at the ICU.  He was restrained because he wants to go down and go home, he also wants to pull the tubes that are attached to him like the NGT, dextrose and catheter.  We stayed at the ICU for 2 weeks, then when the doctor said we can go home and continue treating him and feed him using the NGT.  But my dad is hard-headed, he won't listen to us.  He removed the NGT tube twice and we were giving him food through spoon-feed slowly because he might choke.  But he was sick more, that's why he went back to the ICU because he already lacked oxygen.  As of today, my mom said that his lungs are congested.  Please help me pray that he will be good and well.

Before, I want to learn how to play the guitar. What I did was find a songbook and follow the pattern keys. At first, it was easy but the following keys are kinda hard. The ending, I stopped playing guitar and play the piano/keyboard. When I met my husband, I knew that he loves playing guitar. He did not study or trained, he studied the keys by himself. I bought him a simple guitar, not the electric guitar because it was kinda expensive. Christmas 2013

Merry Christmas to all!  Well, our celebration had sad times and good times.  Sad times because my dad was sick and needed to be admitted again at the hospital (ICU).  Good because it was my daughter's birthday, December 25.  We had potluck lunch at my cousins place and my daughter blew the candle of her birthday cake.  My mother did not come to the party so that she can take care of my dad.  After the potluck party we went to my in-law's place for sleepover.

Just this December 21, it was my daughter's Christmas party at their school.  They started at 9am and finished pass 11pm.  They had a great time especially with their classmates and very excited to receive their gifts from the manito/manita.  For their food, they have a packed snacks (Chicken & Pizza) with C2 Ice Tea.  They had games and many more.  After the kids party, we went to the mall to have lunch at BonChon.

trick or treat 2013

Every November, we visit our love ones who are now in heaven.  Last October 31, we went to the cemetery earlier instead of November 1 to avoid traffic.  Usually, we go in the afternoon but changed it to morning breakfast because lately it usually rains in the afternoon.  After lunch, my daughter and I went to the mall to join trick or treat.  It is her 3rd time to join and she was was happy.  

McDonald's drops Heinz Ketchup

I really love eating at McDonald's and I always order my favorite, Cheeseburger Meal with large fries and regular coke.

McDonalds said it was dropping ketchup king Heinz as a supplier, citing management changes at Heinz that put the company closer to rival Burger King. 

McDonald’s said it was ending a relationship of over 40 years as it axed Heinz from its supplier list. 

"As a result of recent management changes at Heinz, we have decided to transition our business to other suppliers over time," it said. 

In February US investment star Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway together with Brazil's 3G Capital took over Heinz in a $28 billion deal. 

That move brought Heinz closer to Burger King, which is controlled by 3G. 

The change would not be a large blow to Heinz. McDonald’s said it only used Heinz ketchup in two US markets, Minneapolis and Pittsburgh, as well as some foreign markets. 

McDonald’s said in a statement that it would work with Heinz "to ensure a smooth and orderly transition of the McDonald’s restaurant business." 

The company said they "are confident that there will be no impact to our business, our customers and our great tasting food at McDonald's."

been very busy

It has been more that 2 months since my last blog.  Since my husband arrived from work months ago, I was very busy with my life.  There are very special occasions that was celebrated and for me it was very memorable.  I was having also problems with my laptop because it was needed to be reformated, I think it was a virus.  

When my husband arrived, we celebrated his birthday together with relatives.  We had grilled fish, pork and fresh green salads.  

 

A week after hubby's celebration, it was my daughter's opening in her school.  Then the following week was Father's Day.

 

Then comes my nephew's 3rd birthday, Leedon Vincent.  After that it was Mika's classmate's birthday, Lovy Chin.  Next, att Mika's school they celebrated Nutrition Month.

  

That month end, a pretty baby girl was added to our family baby Savannah.  Then my brother arrived for his vacation. 

 

My cousin-inlaw arrived from the States because her mom died, there got the chance to bond with the family.

 

My hubby's grandmother and his uncle from Australia arrived, in time for baby Savanna's dedication.  Another bonding moments with my inlaws.

  

Then it was Mika's Speechfest at school.

  

Then celebrated my mother's birthday together with the siblings and their family.

  

Then it was me from my hubby to go back to work, will not see  him for 8 months.  Sad to say that he's not here to celebrate Christmas, New Year, our anniversary, the kids and my birthday.  But it's okay because I know that God is with him to protect and give him more strength to carry all the work that he will encounter.  Good thing we can talk though  internet, thanks to the technology now.

Our technology today is getting bigger and bigger.  Many ideas are popping to be introduced in the market.  Before, I am not into gadgets but know I am a fan.  I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and I really love it that much but I also want an Iphone too but they say that the brand Samsung is much better than Apple.  In the latest article that I read, it says that the US overturns Apple ban in blow to Samsung. The White House stepped into a patent war between Apple and Samsung Saturday by overturning a decision that banned the sale of certain iPads and iPhones in the United States. US Trade Representative Michael Froman announced the rare move -- a blow to South Korean Samsung -- saying in a letter he had decided to "disapprove" the exclusion order by the US International Trade Commission. Surveys out late last month showed that Apple's iPhone has been squeezed by competition from Samsung and other Asian manufacturers. Apple's share of the global smartphone market fell to 13.1 percent in the April-June period, according to research firm IDC. A separate report by Strategy Analytics gave Apple 13.6 percent, but noted that it was the US firm's lowest share since 2010.

In our country we do not have fireplace in each home because we do not have winter or snow. It only rains or mostly it is very hot.  There are fireplaces only in cold places like farms that are very cold especially early morning. Even so, many of the stories written about her are not the real deal. Researchers from Italy's Guglielmo da Saliceto Hospital enlisted 94 men and women who had mild to moderate high blood pressure. Subjects randomly received phone calls on their mobile, seated in a comfortable chair alone in a room, while their blood pressure measurements were taken via an automated device. The team saw that subjects' blood pressure readings jumped to 129/82 from 121/77 while they chatted on a mobile phone.

But for those who talked on their phones more than 30 times each day, the rise in systolic, or the top number, blood pressure was less dramatic, the study found.

While the researchers aren't clear as to why this happens, study lead Dr. G. Crippa speculates two possible reasons: "The subset of patients who were more accustomed to phone use were younger, which could show that younger people are less prone to be disturbed by telephone intrusions."

He adds: "Another possibility is that people who make more than 30 calls per day may feel more reassured if the mobile phone is activated since they are not running the risk of missing an opportunity."

The findings were presented Wednesday at the annual scientific meeting of the American Society of Hypertension in San Francisco.

Eating more protein may help you shed weight

One way to lose weight? Eating more protein could be a guiding goal, at least according to a new survey.

While dieters are faced with myriad options for shedding extra kilos, University of Minnesota researchers wanted to see how simply eating more protein could affect the weight-loss efforts of middle-aged women.

In the study, 1,824 women aged 40 to 60 years old were asked what they knew about dietary protein and if they ate more protein as a way to prevent weight gain. Women were also asked to correctly identity "good protein sources," such as salmon, and the recommended amount of protein in the diet.

"Eating more protein" -- which could be as simple as opting for fish in lieu of pasta -- was reported by 43 percent of the women as a way to prevent weight gain. When researchers looked at current protein consumption and changes in weight over the following two years, they found that the women who reported "eating more protein" had lost weight.

The survey was published in the May edition of the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior.

A separate study promoting protein-rich diets for weight loss is from the University of Missouri-Columbia, which found that eating a protein-packed breakfast can help you shed weight. In the study, dieters who consumed 35 grams of protein for breakfast snacked less throughout the day and reported more control over food cravings. Findings appeared in March in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Election 2013

Yesterday, was election day for Senators (National), Mayor, Vice-Mayor, Governor, Vice-Governor, Congressman and Councilors (Local).  It was a long process to vote because you need to follow the long line who are also voting.  If you go early, you finish voting early.  For me, my mom and my brother, we went around 9am and waited for 1 hour and 15 minutes.  For my mom, she should be priority because she is a senior citizen already but she chose to fall in line with us (for experience).

Last April 8-12, I let my daughter Mika join the Mc Donald's Kiddie Crew 2013 at SM City Davao (Ecoland). It was a 5-days experience for Mika to have fun and meet new friends. The registration fee was P550 which includes t-shirt, cap, bag, id w/lace, workshop materials, graduation certificate and especially their snacks. Their activities includes Values-formation Lecture, On-floor Restaurant Training, Song and Dance Sessions and Art Workshop (Burger Making and Color Your Own Apron). To cap off the workshop, all restaurants will have their own graduations for the week’s batches, on the 5th day of the workshops. There will also be a Grand Graduation for all McDo Kiddie Crew program participants at the end of summer.

Summer is near

Summer is near and I am excited that it is time to unwind and relax with my love ones.  Tomorrow is my daughter's last exam.  This school year 2013-2014, she will be in Nursery 2.  I am just happy that this year will be a great year, no bad luck!  I know that God will bless my family and my friends as well.

Well, what to do this summer?  Everybody knows that every summer, we usually go to the beach.  I am also happy that my husband will be coming home in 2 months to spend with us together before this school year starts.

9 year old Mexican gave birth

Halo-halo (from Tagalog word halò, "mix") is a popular Filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice and evaporated milk to which are added various boiled sweet beans and fruits, and served in a tall glass or bowl.  Ingredients include boiled kidney beans, garbanzos, sugar palm fruit (kaong), coconut sport (macapuno), and plantains caramelized in sugar, jackfruit (langkâ), gulaman, tapioca, nata de coco, sweet potato (kamote), cheese, pounded crushed young rice (pinipig). In terms of arrangement, most of the ingredients (fruits, beans, and other sweets) are first placed inside the tall glass, followed by the shaved ice. This is then sprinkled with sugar, and topped with either (or a combination of) leche flan, purple yam (ubeng pula), or ice cream. Evaporated milk is poured into the mixture upon serving.

I already ate halo-halo to different places like chowking, so far the halo-halo in a restaurant called Dencia's is much yummier.

At present, most countries are now taking illegal drugs. Because of drugs, some kill people or any kind of illegal act that is cause by drugs. If you are taking drugs regularly you are abusing your body. Drug abuse can lead to drug dependence or addiction. People who use drugs for pain relief may become dependent, although this is rare in those who do not have a history of addiction. Some symptoms and behaviors of drug dependence includes confusion, episodes of violence and neglecting to eat. Because of the fast number of people who are addicted to drugs, they are brought to drug rehab treatment centers. In rehab centers, the components of their integrated approach to alcohol and drug rehab includes: detox, individual therapy, and group therapy. In an article I read, there are types of treatment: residential treatment (in-patient), out-patient, local support groups, extended care centers, recovery or sober houses, addiction counselling, mental health, orthomolecular medicine and medical care. Traditional addiction treatment is based primarily on counseling. However, recent discoveries have shown those suffering from addiction often have chemical imbalances that make the recovery process more difficult.
