AED

Heart disease is the number one killer in the United States. Every day, more than 2600 Americans die from cardiovascular disease, which amounts to 1 death every 33 seconds. AED can help diagnose and treat patients that have this disease. AED is a three-letter acronym that refers to a portable electronic device that diagnoses and treats cardiac arrest. American Red Cross first aid, CPR and AED programs are designed to give you the confidence to respond in an emergency situation with skills that can save a life. Ventricular fibrillation may be restored to normal rhythm up to 60 percent of the time if treated promptly with an AED, a procedure called defibrillation.
