Ephedra Review

Ephedra has been used as a herbal remedy in traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of asthma and hay fever, as well as for the common colds. It is a stimulant that constricts blood vessels and increases blood pressure and heart rate. When I read an ephedra review, I have known that on April 12, 2004, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officially banned the sale of all dietary supplements containing ephedra. Ephedrine has been shown to be effective for weight loss in obese subjects, however it appears that it does so only when administered either in high doses, or in combination with caffeine. Unfortunately, combining ephedra (or ephedrine) with caffeine leads to more side effects. The risks of ephedra increase when combined with caffeine. This combination is not only dangerous, but potentially deadly. Caffeine increases body temperature while several alkaloids in ephedra cause vasoconstriction, which inhibits heat loss. As what I have always said that losing weight is that easy, do it using exercise and eat the right kind of food.
